COMMUNITY DEMOGRAPHICS

COMMUNITY DEMOGRAPHICS

100% of our participants are from low-income families in Los Angeles County with the majority living in South Los Angeles, Pacoima and San Fernando.  To have the greatest impact, we believe it’s essential to reach youth where they are.  That means all of our unique programming takes place at partner schools and juvenile camps throughout LA County.

FLORENCE-FIRESTONE

In US’s South Los Angeles service area of Florence-Firestone, 37% of families have annual incomes of less than $20,000 per year, and 70% of local adults have less than a high-school education (U.S. Census Bureau).

PACOIMA

In US’s San Fernando Valley service community of Pacoima, one in five families lives below the Federal Poverty Level. Approximately two-thirds of Pacoima-area adults have less than a high-school education.

Florence-Firestone ranks 22 out of 209 Los Angeles neighborhoods with regard to violent crime (Los Angeles Times, Mapping L.A. Project).

Single-parent households represent nearly 18% of households with children in this community – and grandparents are the primary caregivers in approximately 10% of households with children (The Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center).

PACOIMA
