    Central Juvenile Hall Campaign 2

By Unusual Suspects Theatre Company 6 years agoNo Comments

    Dear friend,

It’s hard to believe but it’s been over 20 years since I founded The Unusual Suspects Theatre Company.  I still remember how nervous I felt going into Central Juvenile Hall that first time. Dealing with high risk male offenders, I think none of us quite knew what to expect.  But what we found were kids.   Kids, who needed love, attention and the chance to tell their stories.

In the last 20 years, the organization has grown beyond anything I could’ve imagined! The Unusual Suspects now reaches over 1,000 at-risk kids each year with programs in the juvenile justice system and severely underserved LAUSD schools.

I’m excited to share that just last month, The Unusual Suspects was asked to return to Central Juvenile Hall to conduct workshops for the teen boys and girls incarcerated there.  And on top of that, LA County Probation department would like us to bring the program to 3 additional facilities to serve even more kids in the system.

These are opportunities to help children in need that we can’t pass up. But to be honest, it was not in the original plan for the year and the contracts will not cover all the costs.  To close the gap and make sure we get to the kids who need it the most, I have committed to helping raise $15,000.

We are about halfway through the campaign and we still have a long way to go to raise $15,000.
Your contribution directly supports the programs happening in partnership with LA County Probation Department this Fall.  Will you join me to ensure this important work continues?
