    We are trading in our traditional sit-down dinner and speeches for a reception followed by a show! Once again hosted by the amazing Melissa Peterman, our students will perform selections of their original work alongside celebrity scene partners for a special 1-night only performance!

    Meet a New Suspect …

    Ariella Wolfe (Program & Communications Associate) has been with US since November 2016. She comes to US from a year-long fellowship at American Conservatory Theater in community-engaged programs and administration and is grateful to be a new LA resident.

    Where In The World Are The Suspects?

    We’ve been busy working to strengthen our programs and spread word of our work! 

    Wednesday, January 25th … Meisha and Melissa were spied at Edison Middle School hosting a site visit from the Crail-Johnson Foundation.
    Friday, January 27th … The whole US team was found at Edison Middle School for their amazing Page Play “Fear, Family, and Finding Acceptance” along with a talented cast of actors.
    Monday, February 6th … Melissa and Meisha were spotted at the final AIM seminar led by The Devos Arts Institute for Bloomberg Philanthropies grantees.
    Friday, February 10th …Yolanda, Leo, and Ariella were caught at the Unusual Suspects office leading a training for Teaching Artists and an orientation for our S.T.A.R. Mentors.
    Thursday, February 16th … Yolanda and Leo were spotted at San Fernando High School supporting the culmination of one of our (VAST) Voices for Arts & Social Theatre programs.
    Thursday, February 23rd … Yolanda and Leo were spied at Maclay Academy of Social Justice’s Resource Fair meeting families and sharing information about our programs.

    The Unusual Suspects Theater Company believes every young person deserves to be seen, heard and understood. Through collaborative workshops, we work deeply to empower the hardest to reach communities to tell their stories together leading to self-discovery, a sense of belonging, and the building of stronger families and communities.
