The Unusual Suspects Hosts Hollywood Studios for Career Day Events

By Unusual Suspects Theatre Company 4 weeks agoNo Comments

The Unusual Suspects was proud to host Paramount executives this past January, as part of its annual I Have A Dream Day event, at David Starr Jordan High School.  A panel with diverse professional careers, within the studio, shared lessons, with Jordan High School students, in building their career path and how they overcame adversity to achieve their goals.  Speakers such as Jocelyn Cruz (Asst Manager, Multicultural Marketing), Melissa Hendricks (Executive Director, Production Clearance), Joseph Rodriguez (VP, Motion Picture Business Affairs) and more had a profound effect on our students, broadening their knowledge of the variety of opportunities that exist within a studio and how these positions/jobs work together in connection/collaboration to make a studio run smoothly.

The following month, The Unusual Suspects was honored to host NBC-Universal employees at San Fernando High School to talk to our Youth Theatre Residency Program participants about about their career journeys.  Professionals from NBC-Universal such as Tony Ducret (Creative Executive), Sungmi Choi (Digital Marketing), our very own Board Chair Sara Scott (Production Development) and Board Member Julio Quijada (UPG Admin) and more shared their wisdom with our youth and demonstrated that creativity can be central to any role from physical production to marketing and a broad range of additional opportunities.  We are grateful for these amazing volunteers who devoted their time to discuss their own experiences and paths they have taken, and how they achieved their status.  Our students were eager to learn about the challenges and obstacles our guests faced and engaged in lively discussion that enlightened and inspired our youth.
